Hemp and Marijuana, What’s the Difference?

May 23, 2017

Marijuana

Marijuana is cultivated for its high levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THC is the chemical compound in cannabis responsible for the “HIGH”. THC originates mostly in the flowers and trichomes of the plant.

HEMP

Hemp has been cultivated worldwide for thousands of years. Hemp has been used for industrial purposes to make useful items like clothing, rope, paper, sails, and thousands of other products.

Recent research into other uses for hemp has found comparatively high levels of cannabidiol (CBD), a non-intoxicating compound, which may offer benefits in the form of balance and overall well-being.

  1. Why use such a derogatory term? It’s cannabis. Marijuana is a made up term to make people afraid of Mexicans.
