All Things Fitness
Hemplucid was proud to be a sponsor of FitCon 2019, the largest fitness convention in Utah. The event was held at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City (April 12-13).
FitCon encourages everyone to “Find Their Fit,” and to do so by any means necessary. The goal of the event is to provide attendees every opportunity to leave FitCon motivated and inspired to be better.
The convention was packed with celebrity guests, athletic competitions, fitness enthusiasts, and exhibitors. Among the rows of vendors and high-energy displays were a surprising number of hemp CBD (cannabidiol) companies.
The Rise of CBD for Athletes
Between adrenaline-fueled events like powerlifting, boxing, and even armored combat—thousands of FitCon guests flooded the convention floor to sample food, supplements, and hemp-derived CBD.
Hemplucid’s booth was organized in a welcoming layout that encouraged weary attendees to stay awhile and learn about the benefits of hemp for active lifestyles.
The full line of Hemplucid family products was available for sampling, giving many people a chance to try CBD for the first time. We were inspired by the air of enthusiasm and the collective embrace from the fitness community.
Hemp CBD is gaining popularity as an everyday staple for athletes for several reasons.
Recovery time can be a serious hindrance to reaching your full physical potential.
Intense physical exercise takes a toll on the body and creates microscopic tears in muscle fiber. Meanwhile, damaged tissue triggers an inflammatory response to begin the healing process. Rest, recover, repeat.
Inflammation is a necessary part of recovery, but excessive or constant inflammation can lead to greater injury or more serious conditions. This is where CBD and other beneficial compounds found in hemp come in.
To be clear, CBD is not a cure-all tonic that will magic away all recovery time. It can, however, restore balance to the body’s endocannabinoid system, or ECS.
The ECS regulates most physiological functions, including immune response.
Above all, compounds in hemp interact with the ECS to promote and restore a balance called homeostasis. A balanced endocannabinoid system will lead to increased efficiency in physiological processes.
Whole-Plant & IsoTerp CBD
At FitCon, Hemplucid provided samples of two major lines of hemp-derived extracts that can benefit athletes and provide a competitive edge.
The Synergy of the Whole Hemp Plant
We believe the full range of hemp benefits are experienced through extracts made using the whole plant. Hemp has so much more to offer than one isolated compound, and that’s why we created our line of Whole-Plant Hemp CBD.
Compounds in hemp, like cannabinoids and terpenes, work together in a synergy called the entourage effect. Each individual compound interacts with the ECS and can also modulate the effects of other hemp compounds.
Because the whole plant is utilized in these formulations, a small amount of THC (less than 0.3% in hemp) is present to contribute to the entourage effect.
But what about athletes that need to steer clear of any THC content?
A THC-Free Option for Competitors
Kalki was developed with the needs of athletes in mind.
CBD has been approved by WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) for athletic use, but THC is still a no-go for most competitive events.
Kalki IsoTerp is a THC-free hemp extract for athletes that pairs a rich variety of hemp terpenes with CBD. Terpenes are responsible for the smell and taste of cannabis plants, but they also provide benefits of their own.
Because Kalki is THC-free, it’s also a great option for anyone that cannot use THC, whether or not they’re competing as an athlete.
“Inspired to be Better”
The Hemplucid team left FitCon feeling inspired to push ourselves to be better, both mentally and physically.
It’s been incredible to see the acceptance of hemp and hemp-derived products in the fitness community. We were honored to be a part of this event and we look forward to attending FitCon next year!
