People are beginning to question the all inclusive Schedule I Drug classification placed on the entire cannabis Sativa species.
To be a classified as a Schedule I drug a substance must have:
1. A HIGH ABUSE POTENTIAL
2. NO SCIENTIFICALLY SUPPORTED MEDICAL USE
3. SEVERE SAFETY CONCERNS

The following information was pulled from the FDA , National Institute on Drug Abuse, US National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health websites

Let US COMPARE Tobacco and Hemp.

TOBACCO FINDINGS – FDA, NIDA & NIH

TOBACCO FINDINGS – FDA, NIDA & NIH

– There is no safe level of tobacco use. All forms of tobacco are harmful and addictive. There is no safe tobacco product.

– Of the more than 7,000 chemicals in tobacco smoke, at least 250 are known to be harmful. Among the 250 known harmful chemicals in tobacco smoke, at least 69 can cause cancer.

– Smoking is the leading cause of premature, preventable death in this country.

– Cigarette smoking and exposure to tobacco smoke cause about 480,000 premature deaths each year in the United States. Of those premature deaths, about 36% are from cancer, 39% are from heart diseaseand stroke, and 24% are from lung disease

– For many who use tobacco, long-term brain changes brought on by continued nicotine exposure result in addiction. Smoking is highly addictive.

– Nicotine is poisonous and, though uncommon, overdose is possible.

Nicotine poisoning usually occurs in young children who accidentally chew on nicotine gum or patches used to quit smoking or swallow e-cigarette liquid.

– As with drugs such as cocaine and heroin, nicotine increases levels of the chemical messenger dopamine, which affects parts of the brain that control reward and pleasure.

– Although nicotine is addictive, most of the severe health effects of tobacco use comes from other chemicals.

Tobacco smoking can lead to lung cancer, chronic bronchitis, and emphysema. It increases the risk of heart disease, which can lead to stroke or heart attack. Smoking has also been linked to other cancers, leukemia, cataracts, and pneumonia. Smokeless tobacco increases the risk of cancer, especially mouth cancers.

– Pregnant women who smoke cigarettes run an increased risk of miscarriage, stillborn or premature infants, or infants with low birth weight.

– Smoking harms nearly every bodily organ and organ system in the body and diminishes a person’s overall health.

– Smoking while pregnant may also be associated with learning and behavioral problems in exposed children.

Secondhand smoke exposure can also lead to lung cancer and heart disease. It can cause health problems in both adults and children, such as coughing, phlegm, reduced lung function, pneumonia, and bronchitis.

– Children exposed to secondhand smoke are at an increased risk of ear infections, severe asthma, lung infections, and death from sudden infant death syndrome.

Tobacco use is a major threat to public health. – FDA

– It’s important to note that FDA regulation of these products does not mean they are safe to use.

Cigarette smoke contains a number of toxic chemicals and irritants.

CBD FINDINGS – FDA, NIDA & NIH

CBD FINDINGS – FDA, NIDA & NIH

– In short, CBD appears to be a safe drug with no addictive effects, and the preliminary data suggest that it may have therapeutic value for a number of medical conditions.

– The NIH recognizes the need for additional research on the therapeutic effects of CBD

– CBD, for example,

does not make people high and is not intoxicating.

– Cannabidiol is a phytocannabinoid derived from Cannabis species, which is devoid of psychoactive activity, with analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antineoplastic and chemopreventive activities.

– There is also growing evidence that CBD acts on other brain signaling systems, and that these actions may be important contributors to its therapeutic effects.

– Alterations in thinking and perception caused by THC are not observed with CBD

– CBD did not identify significant side effects across a wide range of dosages, including acute and chronic dose regimens, using various modes of administration.

– There is extensive information available with regard to its metabolism, toxicology, and safety.

– There is significant preliminary evidence that CBD may have therapeutic value for a number of conditions

– There is reason to believe it may have a range of uses in medicine, including in the treatment of seizures and other neurological disorders.

– Like most medical treatments, it doesn’t seem to work for everyone.

– No known deaths are attributed to CBD
